Originally photography lenses, the 58mm and 85mm Petzval primes were designed by Joseph Petzval in 1840. They were one of the first mathematically calculated lens objectives ever accomplished and were highly praised by photographers and scientists alike. Lomography revived the lenses' popularity with a successful Kickstarter campaign a few years ago and started building them into signature copper housings with Canon or Nikon mounts. TLS has now picked up the Petzvals as well and is rehousing them for modern cinema cameras, outfitting them with cam-driven geared focus and iris rings and stainless steel PL mounts. Perfect for stylistic portraiture, the lenses feature sharp centers encircled with swirly bokeh.
